Zambia is set to host the 14th edition of African Youth and Governance Convergence (AYGC) with Zambia as host country, from 8th – 13th August 2022 under the theme ‘HARNESSING TECHNOLOGY AND DIGITAL INNOVATION TO ADVANCE AFRICA’S YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AGENDA’.
It will be held both physically at the Kenneth Kaunda International Conference Centre, and virtually on Zoom platform.
It is necessary that we advocate for a paradigm shift to technology and digital innovation as a key connector to Africa’s youth development agenda. As such, the event which will receive African leaders, youth delegates and industry experts from all over the continent and Diaspora will also commemorate the International Youth Day, to celebrate our youth, especially for their innovation and achievements, in contribution towards Africa’s COVID-19 recovery agenda these past years.
About AYGC
The AYGC is an all-year-round leadership grooming program with an annual convergence initiated and convened by Youth Bridge Foundation since 2009. It brings together youth, experts in academia, government officials and public servants to analyse policy documents and deliberate on issues affecting the continent. Delegates grouped into workable committees will be guided by industry experts to research on given topics ahead of the convergence after which they will propose and defend their motions for subsequent adoption at a General Assembly. AYGC offers an excellent opportunity to network beyond borders in the building of a united African youth front through four focus areas:
- Leadership Grooming
- Cascade of Mentorship
- Community Impact
- Networking & Exchanges
