The Youth Bridge Foundation-Zambia, with support from the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) Lusaka Zambia, engaged Zambian Youth to create awareness on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through a cycling event. The event which was held on 28 October 2017, was a collaboration between a number of Non-Governmental Organizations based in Zambia and Zimbabwe. There were 17 cyclists (each representing one SDG) who covered a distance of 54 kilometres from Kafue to Zambia’s capital, Lusaka, distributing flyers about the SDGs as they cycled. In the end, souvenirs were distributed for participants and Youth gathered to drive the message home.
Sustainable Development Goals presents the world with a workable framework that enables all to contribute their quota to achieving a sustainable world. The initiative was therefore a timely reminder for the country’s Youth to take responsibility as the next generation of leaders ensuring this.
The event was climaxed at the Zimbabwean High Commission with Zambia’s Minister of Youth and Sports, and Zimbabwean High Commissioner to Zambia, in attendance.
