Mr Seth Oteng, Executive Director Youth Bridge Foundation (Ghana, Zambia) On behalf of the African Youth and
Governance Convergence (AYGC) Community across the African Continent and in the Diaspora
As the death of H.E. John Pombe Magufuli was announced across the globe, silent tears
dropped loudly as the beating of drums and wailing were heard In Tanzania, across Africa
and in the diaspora.
As his body was transported to his hometown of Chato, the wailing got louder
and the pain excruciating.
It has become apparent that Africa has lost one of its finest sons.
The most prominent of his attributes were his tenacity, strength, humility and service.
Not many leaders have dared to disturb the silence of preserving state resources for the
benefit of its citizens …but he travelled that path.
Indeed a big tree has fallen.
With the highest respect and honesty, the Youth Bridge Foundation and African Youth and
Governance Convergence (AYGC) Community across 44 African States and Diaspora express
our heartfelt condolences to his wife, family, the new and first female President and the good
people of Tanzania.
We want to salute him even from afar.
Maisha ambayo yanagusa wengine yanaendelea kujulikana milele
(A life that touches others goes on forever)
May the vision that has been planted in our brains to preserve Africa’s resources and heritage
remain forever.
We charge the Youth of Tanzania and Africa to pick up such a worthy baton.
